About nowwhere

Utopia literally means "no place." The Greek is ou-topos — the good place that doesn't exist. For most of history that was where the future of living stayed: nowhere.

Then people started building it anyway. A two-month city in Montenegro that ended on purpose. A longevity village on a Honduran island with its own rules. Coliving neighborhoods connected into a network city. Schools for founding societies. The future stopped being nowhere — it became now, here, for a few weeks or forever, wherever people gathered to try.

nowwhere is the map of those places. Pop-up cities, coliving networks, new societies — what they are, where they are, when they happen, and how to show up.

The question

Every one of these places ends, moves, or graduates. Everyone who has lived in one knows the feeling on the last day: now where? That question is the site. The listings are the answer.

Who made this

I'm Derrick. I travel, and I go to these things — nomad festivals, pop-up cities, colivings — because I like the people you meet at them. What I kept wanting was somewhere to look up what was on next without piecing it together from a dozen Twitter threads and Luma pages. That didn't exist, so I built it.

It's been put together quickly, and some of it will be wrong. I check each listing against the organiser's own channels and stamp it with the date I checked, but dates move, editions get cancelled, and I will have missed things. If you spot something off — especially if it's your event — send a correction and I'll fix it the same day. The form takes a note, so you don't have to fill in a whole listing to flag one wrong date — it comes straight to me. You can also find me on X.

Soon organisers will be able to claim their own listing and keep it current themselves, which is the only way a directory like this stays true.

What's next

Today nowwhere is a directory. Soon you'll be able to save places, submit new ones, and — because choosing where to go is really about who will be there — sign in and bring your people with you.

Nothing here is a paid placement — no one has paid to be included, ranked higher, or described more kindly. A few listings carry an invitation link, labelled as one every time: it goes to the same organisation as the official site, by a route that credits nowwhere for the referral. It never changes what gets listed or what a listing says, and the listing always gives the real name so you can go direct instead.
