Gelephu Mindfulness City
King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck's new city on Bhutan's southern border with Assam: a Special Administrative Region with its own executive, legislature and independent courts, covering roughly a tenth of the country. Its first law (December 2024) adopted 18 Singaporean statutes and Abu Dhabi Global Market financial regulations. BIG's master plan lays out eleven mandala-shaped neighbourhoods along river corridors, with an international airport planned. Priority sectors run from spiritual, wellness and education to green energy, agri-tech, aviation, and finance and digital assets. It targets 100,000 jobs by 2030. In 2026 it launched a Solana-based digital nomad residence with NomadClub, secured by a deposit in the gold-backed TER token.
